Why Community Access Matters

Getting out regularly changes things. Not in a big dramatic way, just gradually. You start recognising faces at the gym. You pick up new skills, new mates and a richer day-to-day life.

Real change happens gradually

Practise working through shops, buses and local events with a support worker beside you. Each outing builds confidence until the world feels easier to manage on your own.

Connection builds naturally

Shared activities spark conversation and connection. You will meet people who like what you like, sharpen communication and feel more at ease in a crowd.

Having someone who shows up

You bring unique energy to every club, cafe or volunteer group you join. Showing up adds value to your neighbourhood and gives you the fulfilment that comes from giving back.

Vana Care's community access services in Adelaide and SA make all this possible with planning centred on your goals, preferences, funding and safety. Outdoor options can include a beach walk at Henley Beach, a trail at Morialta near Rostrevor or time around animals in the Adelaide Hills.

How it works

Getting Started With Community Access

  1. 1. Reach Out

Call us or build a quote online. We have a chat about what you enjoy, what you want to try, and what a good outing looks like for you.

  2. 2. Tell Us Your Story

We match you with a support worker who shares your interests, not just whoever is free that day.

  3. 3. Live Life, Your Way

Your first outing gets planned and off you go. We check in after to see how it went and keep building from there.

Community Access: Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting out and about with NDIS support in Adelaide.

What is community access under the NDIS?

Community access is NDIS-funded support that helps you get out and involved in activities outside your home. That could be gym sessions, beach walks, shopping trips, social events, volunteering, or anything that matters to you.

What activities can I do with community access?

Community access can include gym sessions, art classes, footy games, fishing, time with animals, coffee catch-ups and volunteering. The activity must fit your goals, funding, service agreement, safety needs and practical arrangements.

Can I pick my own activities?

You lead the activity planning. We work around your interests while checking funding, safety, worker availability, transport and the agreed support scope.

Do I get to choose my support worker?

You can tell us your preferences and ask to meet a proposed worker. If a match is not working, the team will review alternatives subject to availability, support needs and safety.

Where do you provide community access in Adelaide?

We accept enquiries from Greater Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills. Availability depends on location, travel, support needs, worker fit and current capacity.

How is community access funded through my NDIS plan?

Applicable Core Supports funding may cover agreed community participation supports. The team must still check the plan, available funding, service agreement, activity costs and current NDIS pricing rules.

How do I get started with community access?

Call us on 08 7228 6202 or build a quote on our Get Support page. We will have a chat, match you with a local support worker, and get started at your pace.
