Provider of the Month: Navigator In Reach

By the Vana Care team | 26 June 2026

Every so often, we come across a provider whose work makes the whole support network feel calmer, clearer and more useful for the person at the centre of it.

This month, we want to highlight NIR | Navigator In Reach, an Adelaide-based registered NDIS provider delivering support coordination and specialist support coordination across South Australia.

Navigator In Reach is led by Alicia Sheppard, and what stands out is the way she approaches coordination: plain English, steady follow-through, practical provider knowledge and a strong focus on helping people actually use the plan they have. That matters, because the best NDIS plan in the world does very little if the right services are not connected, explained and reviewed properly.

Vana Care does not provide support coordination ourselves. We focus on in-home support, community access and supported independent living. So when a participant or family needs coordination, it is important to know who is doing that work well.

Navigator In Reach is one of those providers.

Why support coordination matters

Support coordination is the bridge between an NDIS plan and real life. It helps participants understand their funding, choose providers, set up service agreements, keep budgets moving and prepare for reviews.

When support coordination is done well, families feel less alone. Providers have clearer communication. Participants get more choice and control because they understand what is available and what steps to take next.

When it is done poorly, people can end up with unused funding, confusing paperwork, disconnected providers and a plan that looks good on paper but does not translate into the week they actually want.

That is why we value good coordinators so much. They do not replace support workers, family or allied health professionals. They help all those pieces work together.

What makes Navigator In Reach stand out

The strongest thing about Navigator In Reach is how practical the service feels. Their public positioning is not built around jargon. It is built around what participants ask for every day: "What does this plan mean?", "Who can actually help me?", "Why is no one calling back?", and "How do I make sure my funding is used properly before the next review?"

Their NDIS support coordination in Adelaide and South Australia is focused on helping participants understand the plan, find responsive providers, track budgets and turn funded supports into an actual support network.

For more complex situations, Navigator In Reach also provides specialist support coordination. That higher level of coordination can be especially important when there are multiple services involved, higher-risk circumstances, crisis planning, housing pressures, hospital transitions or other barriers that need careful management.

The difference is not just the service type. It is the way Alicia seems to hold the work: steady, direct and human.

Alicia Sheppard's work deserves recognition

Alicia Sheppard has built Navigator In Reach around a simple idea: people should not need to become NDIS experts just to use their own plan.

That sounds obvious, but anyone who has worked near the NDIS knows how hard the system can feel. There are budgets, line items, provider lists, evidence requirements, reviews, service agreements, reports and a lot of acronyms that can quickly become exhausting.

Alicia's work helps cut through that. From what we see, the value is in the combination of warmth and action. She explains things clearly, looks for providers who actually respond, and keeps the participant's goals in view rather than letting the process take over.

You can learn more about Alicia and the Navigator In Reach story on their site. It is worth reading because it shows the values behind the service: woman-owned, locally grounded, transparent and focused on practical outcomes.

Why Vana Care is highlighting them

As a disability support provider, we know our part of the picture. We can provide consistent support workers, build routines, help people get out into the community, and support more independent living at home.

But strong support often needs a wider team. A participant may also need allied health, plan management, equipment providers, housing supports, advocacy, assessments or help preparing for an NDIS review.

That is where good coordination changes the experience. It gives the participant and family someone who can look across the whole plan and help make sure each provider is playing the right role.

For Vana Care, working alongside capable coordinators makes our own support better too. Communication improves. Goals are clearer. Service agreements make more sense. Everyone has a better understanding of what the participant is working towards.

That is why Navigator In Reach deserves this Provider of the Month spotlight.

When Navigator In Reach may be a good fit

Navigator In Reach may be worth speaking to if you:

  • have NDIS support coordination funding and are not sure how to use it
  • need help finding responsive providers in Adelaide or regional South Australia
  • feel your plan is underused or hard to understand
  • are preparing for a plan reassessment or review
  • need support connecting several providers around the same goals
  • have more complex needs and may require specialist support coordination

Their site explains the pathway clearly, including how to contact Navigator In Reach for a free 20-minute intro call. There is no pressure in making an enquiry. Sometimes the first step is simply getting someone experienced to look at the plan and explain what it actually means.

A provider worth knowing

The disability sector works best when good providers know and respect each other's lanes. Vana Care is proud of the work we do in direct support, but we are just as happy to point families towards excellent providers in areas we do not cover.

For support coordination, Navigator In Reach is a provider worth knowing.

Congratulations to Alicia Sheppard and the Navigator In Reach team on being our Provider of the Month. The work may happen behind the scenes, but when coordination is done well, participants and families feel the difference everywhere.
